About Kelly
Even before I knew the word "writer," I wanted to be one.
At around age six, I became so enchanted with a storybook, I asked my mom, “What do you call people who do this?” pointing to the words on the page. “A writer,” she said, and I remember thinking: I'm going to do that when I grow up.
My childhood self would be happy to know I’m now a poet and professional writer who helps people connect through artful language and supports purpose-driven organizations with strategic messaging. I specialize in personalized wedding writing, custom poems for milestones and gifts, and wellness content.
My poems have been published in Rust + Moth, Shot Glass Journal, Verseweavers, and other journals, as well as the Red Sofa chapbook “How to Love Everything.”
In addition to poetry, I bring three decades of marketing writing experience, including roles as a senior copywriter for an Oregon-based health insurer and as a travel writer and magazine editor. This background has fostered my creativity as well as my ability to work collaboratively, maintain attention to detail, and reliably meet deadlines.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado in General Writing (English, business writing, and PR).
When not writing or reading, I’m usually puttering in the garden, trying to meditate, or experimenting with plant-based cooking. Along with my husband and three rescue dogs, I also love escaping to the Oregon Coast for long weekends.
Let's Work Together
Whether you’re an individual marking a personal milestone or an organization looking to advance your mission, I'm excited to help you find the right words.
I’d love to hear what you have in mind.
Kelly's professionalism shines through in everything she does. From keeping me informed on task timelines to going the extra mile in problem solving, I always knew where the project stood and she was on it. I had confidence that she would consult with me when a joint decision needed to be made, which enhanced the trust in the relationship. I highly recommend Kelly.
